My dear honourable friends,
Some people have asked about the title of my poem „UBUNTU“ and its meaning, so here below is a story about it….
Ubuntu is an African tribe who live a life of collective cooperation and sharing the resources but they never compete with each other.
Once, one western man who was an anthropologist visited the tribe to study their behavior. He designed an experiment to conduct with the children of the tribe.
One morning, placed a big fruit basket some hundred meters away and he gathered the tribal children at a starting line. He explained to them that they have to run to the fruit basket and get their share of the fruits. He asked everyone to run when they hear the whistle.
When he blew up the whistle for them to run, but to his utter surprise, none of the children started to run individually. He couldn’t believe his eyes what he saw.
The children started a leisurely walk from the line of start hand in hand, happily holding each other’s hands without any hurry or worry towards the target fruit basket some hundred meters away.
After reaching, the target they all sit down forming a circle around, keeping the fruit basket in the center of the circle. Then one by one they got up to go and pick up a fruit from the basket and come back and give it to his neighbor not keeping it for himself. Each one performed the same procedure of bringing fruits not for himself but for the neighbor until everyone got the fruits.
The poor anthropologist who was raised in West with the doctrine of essential competition for the survival, sustenance and success in life and living, was aghast to watch what was happening in front of his eyes.
The essence of the poem is to highlight the evolutionary gift of inherent altruistic nature of humanity empowered by the collective cooperation, human unity and solidarity. But because of the wrong belief system and defective world view, humanity has been highlighting the jealous competition, use of force and violence as the only essential strategy for individual and collective survival and sustenance.
If an African tribe could practice human cooperation and solidarity, why can’t we, the so called, educated and civilized people, could learn from UBUNTU and behave like truly civilized human beings, asks the Poet.

Ubuntu è una tribù africana che vive una vita di cooperazione collettiva e condivisione delle risorse ma non è mai in competizione tra loro.
Una volta, un uomo occidentale che era un antropologo visitò la tribù per studiarne il comportamento. Ha progettato un esperimento da condurre con i bambini della tribù.
Una mattina mise un grande cesto di frutta a qualche centinaio di metri di distanza e radunò i bambini tribali sulla linea di partenza. Ha spiegato loro che devono correre al cesto della frutta e prendere la loro parte dei frutti. Ha chiesto a tutti di correre quando sentono il fischio.
Quando ha suonato il fischietto per farli correre, ma con sua totale sorpresa, nessuno dei bambini ha iniziato a correre individualmente. Non poteva credere ai suoi occhi quello che vedeva.
I bambini hanno iniziato una piacevole passeggiata dalla linea di partenza mano nella mano, tenendosi felicemente per mano senza alcuna fretta o preoccupazione verso il cesto di frutta di destinazione a qualche centinaio di metri di distanza.
Dopo aver raggiunto il bersaglio, si siedono tutti a formare un cerchio, mantenendo il cesto di frutta al centro del cerchio. Poi uno ad uno si alzarono per andare a prendere un frutto dal cesto e tornarono a darlo al suo vicino che non lo tenne per sé. Ognuno ha eseguito la stessa procedura di portare i frutti non per se stesso ma per il vicino finché tutti hanno ottenuto i frutti.
Il povero antropologo cresciuto in Occidente con la dottrina della competizione essenziale per la sopravvivenza, il sostentamento e il successo nella vita e nel vivere, era inorridito nel vedere cosa stava succedendo davanti ai suoi occhi.
L’essenza del poema è evidenziare il dono evolutivo della natura altruistica intrinseca dell’umanità potenziata dalla cooperazione collettiva, dall’unità umana e dalla solidarietà. Ma a causa del sistema di credenze sbagliato e della visione del mondo difettosa, l’umanità ha messo in evidenza la gelosa competizione, l’uso della forza e della violenza come l’unica strategia essenziale per la sopravvivenza e il sostentamento individuale e collettivo.
Se una tribù africana potesse praticare la cooperazione umana e la solidarietà, perché noi, le cosiddette persone istruite e civilizzate, non possiamo imparare da UBUNTU e comportarci come esseri umani veramente civili, chiede il Poeta.
