Biography
The author Concetta la Placa was born in Caltanissetta on 30/07/1960, but lives in Rome.
Since she was a child she has always shown that she has a creative nature.
After obtaining the scientific high school diploma, the author also obtained a four-year degree from the University of Trieste in Administration and Management of Social Policies, at the Faculty of Education.
From 1991 to 2006 he carried out his activity in the socio-health field at an ASL in Sicily, dealing with socio-health problems in the field of mental illness and drug addiction, then in the field of Health Education and “ Active Reception of Clandestine Immigrants in Healthcare, but, above all, in the primary prevention of adolescence.
Since May 2006, after moving to Rome, she has continued to deal with social issues, working in particular in the field of promoting the Rights of the Child and Adolescent at the Ministry of Labor and Social Policies.
Since February 2018 she has been involved in the promotion of the measure of the Inclusion Income and then of the Citizenship Income for the Contrast of Poverty at the General Direction of the Fight Against Poverty of the Ministry of Labor and Social Policies in Rome.
Despite she having left her Sicily for fifteen years to move to the capital, the author keeps the memory of her beloved island intact in her heart and feels that her roots are always and still firmly rooted in her hometown.
She Loves literature and poetry. She loves reading very much and, in her spare time, she delights in practicing creative writing and above all in writing verses, trying to capture on paper all the emotions that vibrate inside her heart, to transmit them, in an underground way, to her readers.
Every time she pauses in front of the sea, or she finds herself admiring a sunset or sees the sunrise, she perceives love and she tries to immortalize those moments of fleeting enchantment, blocking her emotions, not with a photo, but with good verses.
She has participated in several poetry competitions on the Italian and international scene, with good results and merit awards
and has published in many anthologies of Various Authors and in E-Books of national and international poetry competitions.
Many of his poems are still unpublished.
In December 2020 she published her first collection, entitled „Cosmic Love And Emotions In The Wind“, through the Munir Mezyed Foundation for Arts and Culture Romania.
Munir Mezyed is the great Jordanian-Palestinian poet, in existence, still in the running for the Nobel Prize for Culture, Peace and Dialogue between Religions.
The Silloge was published in two versions: the Kindle version and the paper version and is on sale on the Amazon platform.
It is a collection of 55 poems, all connected by a single „fil rouge“ which is that of Cosmic Love, that is, an extraordinary, unique and powerful form of love.
Cosmic Love, for the author, is nothing more than a relationship or an indescribable emotion for the little things that surround us in this immensity.
It is love for simplicity, for the beauty of nature; it is the overwhelming love between a man and a woman, enriched only by pure emotions that are inevitably intertwined with true and genuine feelings.
Cinque poesie.
Five Poems di Concetta La Placa.
1) UNO SBIADITO RICORDO
Non ti ho mai dimenticata, mi dicesti tanti anni fa,
quando credevi, ancora,
d’amarmi davvero.
solo gelide e violente raffiche.

1) A FADED REMEMBER
I’ve never forgotten you, you told me many years ago,
when you still believed
to really love me.
You asserted that your whole life
it had been pivoted
on the memory of me,
precious memory of youth.
Then one day you understood
that I was, by now, a faded black and white image of a happy age, swept away forever by the wind.
So that violent hurricane arrived, bringing with it
only icy and violent gusts.
We were pursued with fury
from the whirlpools that enveloped everything and left not even a faint trace of us behind.
2) LONTANANZA
I miei pensieri si innalzano
e raggiungono vette
mai sfiorate prima.
Attraversano i sogni di una esistenza
desiderata e mai vissuta
e astratti apici emozionali.
L’anima si apre
al nuovo vento emotivo.
Il batticuore accorcia
un po’ il respiro.
Sono emozioni nuove
che si stratificano
giorno dopo giorno,
anno dopo anno.
Mentre, la vita fugge via
e l’attesa riempie il vuoto
della tua lontananza
che e’ in me.
2) DISTANCE
My thoughts soar
and reach heights
never touched before.
They cross the dreams of an existence
desired and never lived
and abstract emotional peaks.
The soul opens
to the new emotional wind.
The heartbeat shortens
a little breath.
They are new emotions
that stratify
day by day,
Year after year.
While, life runs away
and waiting fills the void
of your distance that is in me.
3) ETERNO SENTIMENTO.
Tu sei il senso
di tutta la mia
vita.
3) ETERNAL FEELING.
You are the sense
of all of mine
life.
You are the ray of sunshine
that lights up the dark night
of my heart.
It is you, my love, who make me be only the fleeting moment of our eternal feeling.

4) AMORE MATERNO.
Amore.
Amore materno
immenso, unico, insostituibile.
Amore eterno silente, inondante.
Amore che non conosce limiti.
Amore che coinvolge i cuori
duri.

4) MATERNAL LOVE.
Love.
Maternal love
immense, unique, irreplaceable.
Silent, flooding eternal love.
Love that knows no bounds.
Love involving hearts
hard.
Pure feeling forever decentralized from the ego.
Love that goes beyond the things of the world.
Sublime, immortal love that reaches every space, nourishes, cares.
Just as only mine can always be for you, my son.

Attorno a noi solo tracotanza
e vile indifferenza, cinismo
e quel freddo non sense.
Orrore che si perpetra in nome
di un bieco e dissennato dovere
che, spesso, tale non è.
Si continua a parlare
di diritti dell’uomo,
di diritto alla cura,
del diritto di libero arbitrio,
mentre altri decidono già
dall’alto dei loro scanni.
Tutto ciò ci limita
e ci riduce, nelle mani altrui ,
a diventare delle mere
marionette senz’anima

5) A BARBED WIRE AROUND
TO THE HEARTS OF THE AFFLICTED.
(against all forms of abuse towards the weakest by the system).
Around us only arrogance
and cowardly indifference, cynicism
and that cold non sense.
Horror that is perpetrated in name
of a sinister and senseless duty
which is often not the case.
We keep talking
of human rights,
right to care,
of the right to free will,
while others already decide
from the top of their seats.
All of this limits us
and reduces us, into the hands of others,
to become mere
soulless puppets
and without a will of its own.
The strongest decides our life.
Thus, the fate of the weakest,
of the sick poor, of those who, in this vile society, despite immense efforts, have not achieved inclusion,
gets stuck in the terrible and gray meshes of the „system“.
For a vile fate
he also lost
his only true wealth,
the possibility of being
a free person and to be able to decide about his own life.
So heartbroken mothers and fathers
are forced to leave
by someone else’s decision,
their children in the hands of the executioner, to strangers who will be the new parents.
In the name of justice
which isn’t there.
In the name of an advocacy
who is on the run.
In the name of other interests
disguised as hypocrisy.
Once again
they surrounded,
with barbed wire,
hearts afflicted with pain
of men who have also taken away every trace of human hope and dignity.
