A HOLE IN THE MAZE

Can truth seep through the wall of love,

like water remembering stone?

Can violets raise her heart beyond the hills

where hidden secrets breathe?

She rested her head upon my shoulder

while my fingers wandered

through the silk of her hair.

The mind became illusion’s chamber,

mirrors flowering into fire.

My night raged wild,

a forest burning in its own tongue.

Words took wing before I could feel them,

and a fountain broke loose

through the fever of my mouth.

I rehearsed my tricks

to outwit imagination,

walked the threads of fortune

like a blind adventurer,

shaking the steep ascenders

for a spark of revelation.

Childhood left me little to ransom—

only a board of clay,

and a ray of light

that leaps alive

whenever I stumble.

Lonely tears descended.

I spun inside the dizziness of stars.

And while she aged my despair into wine,

I tore through the labyrinth,

freed

by a hole in the maze.

  THE GARDEN OD LONGING

You are my heart’s garden,

the neem tree shading its silence,

the kiss that lingers on my lips,

the dream where longing ripens.

You are the songs forgotten lovers keep

hidden in the folds of remembrance,

a hush of music wandering

through the chambers of desire.

Sow me like a flower in your hands—

I shall rise as rose and lily,

blooming where your fingers wander.

Let me be winter’s cloud,

heavy with celestial rain,

falling softly on your waiting cheeks.

Drink from the cup of amorousness;

open the book of our untold hours.

Read our love to the gulls at sea,

let the wind recite it to the shore,

whisper it upward

until even the stars grow tender.

When longing deepens in your soul,

sunset weeps its magical tears.

And when the twilight is colourful,

your image burns upon the mountains,

glimmers on the breathing skin of the sea,

appears in every secret rendezvous

where freedom wears the face of love.

Then evening gathers us

in violet and gold,

and the horizon becomes a bridal veil.

I searched through many seasons

for a name to call love….

and found it only

when I found you.

THE FLUTE OF ENCHANTED DUST

In our enchanted garden

we were lost in love’s first beginning,

while all melodies of existence

gathered around us like prayer.

Night itself became a song of tales,

the trembling breath of lovers.

The grass dreamed.

Dust disclosed its hidden secrets.

A flute rose….

a hymn announcing

the happiness of the universe.

And in the old book

of lovers’ philosophy

and forgotten charms,

desire wrote its luminous scripture.

The awakened alleys rejoiced at her arrival.

Upon a bed woven of cloud-echoes

she loosed her plaits

upon the cheek of the breeze,

and strands of her hair

wandered like trembling stars.

I heard the sap rising

through the panting forehead of earth.

Wallada, do you remember?

The whispers of wheat plains

to a shy and listening sun,

the breath of dew-beads

when they lifted

their passionate swings?

Among light

and leafy pages

written on the rocks of branches,

there was a wedding

of colors and breezes,

of birdcalls and spectra,

of spirits, enchantments,

and beautiful magic.

There

even silence whispered love.

VOICE OF MY HEART

The night is warm,

and longing sips the distance.

Cups drift astray

telling stories of her love.

Passions circle

the body of the tale,

and the lips of mirrors shiver

while fiction-horses carry jasmine.

The mouth holds a thousand desires,

and her chest weaves a wish—

a wish that escapes ambition’s grasp.

The prophecy of shyness,

and the wings of butterflies,

expose the redness of her cheeks.

Elegant in her revolution,

rebellious in her modesty,

she claims to be

a child of the sea

yet trembles within her waves.

I send my songs like mounted knights

to chase her fears away,

and the voice of my heart

calls her back

to safely anchor on my shores.

CHAOS AND CLAMOR

Tomorrow will sing me a song

and sway away my sorrows.

No family, no frontier

only rays of longing appearing.

When night falls and dreams retreat,

and breezes carry the scent of love,

I wish I had wings to fly

toward where defiance gathers near.

Filled with hope and illusion,

with life, burden, and rain,

when clouds prepare to pour,

the sky dissolves in chaos and clamor.

We play upon our flute,

we chant love’s forgotten rituals,

lost in joy’s brief fire

a melody nesting in my heart.

The flames of love burn through our ribs

before we reap the cooling wind.

The fire rises, branching higher,

and what remains of us becomes ash.

O love, illuminate the path

until torment fades away.

We grew weary, lost our steering hands,

and sent our prayers

but they returned in tears.
